This Sunday, when Gregor Townsend’s team hosts world champions South Africa at Scottish Gas Murrayfield, a Scotland team of 12 Glasgow Warriors will play. Scotland is looking for their first victory over the Springboks since 2010, and all 12 of the Warriors who were chosen for matchday 23 keep their spots from last weekend’s 57-17 victory over Fiji. After signing a new contract that will keep him a Glasgow Warrior until at least the summer of 2028, Sione Tuipulotu will lead his nation in the match once more.
Huw Jones lines up alongside captain Tuipulotu following a performance last weekend that saw him make more clean breaks in a single game than any other international player in 2024, while Tom Jordan makes his first start for Scotland at full-back after making an impressive comeback on the bench during his senior international debut. On matchday 23, Zander Fagerson, the most-capped Warrior for the British and Irish Lions, starts at tight-head just one week after becoming a father to twins.
The second-rower Scott Cummings, who touched down for Glasgow’s opening try in the 2024 BKT United Rugby Championship Grand Final victory over the Vodacom Bulls in Pretoria earlier this year, starts in the engine room. Jack Dempsey starts at number eight again in an all-Glasgow back row, while Matt Fagerson and Rory Darge, one of Scotland’s vice-captains, line up on the sides.
Rory Sutherland, who gained three Test caps for the British and Irish Lions against the Springboks on the 2021 trip, is one of four additional Warriors who are waiting for their chance among the substitutes. The former Scotland U20 star Max Williamson, who ran out at Scottish Gas Murrayfield for the first time in his Scotland career during the victory against Fiji, is wearing the number 19 shirt. Two Glasgow backs, Jamie Dobie and Stafford McDowall, cover the back line in a six-two split on the bench to complete matchday 23.
Supporters can watch the game live on TNT Sports, with kickoff on Sunday set for 4.10 p.m. On Sunday, November 10, 2024, the Scotland team will play South Africa. Kickoff is at 4:10 p.m. at Scottish Gas Murrayfield, and the match will be shown live on TNT Sports.
