As the Philadelphia Eagles get ready to play the Cowboys in Week 10, Nick Sirianni is presented with a situation he has never encountered as head coach: a Dallas team that is simply not very good.
The Cowboys aren’t exactly any worse than the New York Giants, but they’re also not much better either. They’re 3-5 and recently put their starting quarterback on injured leave, which virtually ensures a few more victories before Dak Prescott is ready to play again.
Considering everything that transpired against the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 9, would the Eagles continue to take the Cowboys for granted? Or will they take advantage of this opportunity to achieve a decisive victory and completely demolish their division rivals? Sirianni told reporters on Friday that he doesn’t intend to do the former either since he isn’t taking this Cowboys squad for granted, even though he can’t honestly promise the latter.
“I still hold this football team in the highest regard. They have many talented players. Their coaches are good. Sirianni informed reporters, “And we’re going to have to be on it, going up there into a difficult place to play and be on it.”
So that’s how we’re getting ready. You see the tape in different ways as we play it. It is occasionally viewed as cut-ups and other times as part of the game’s flow. And you think, “Whoa, man, that’s a tough one to stop,” “This is a tough scheme to stop,” or “This is a tough player to stop” as you’re watching cut-ups. We are completely focused on them. It’s a game of rivalry. I haven’t been on a team that has won there yet, and this is a big-time game against a big-time opponent. Going down there and defeating a strong opponent is the aim.
Having said that, would any head coach claim to be taking an opponent’s team for granted? Would Sirianni say that he was looking forward to Week 11 against the Washington Commanders after almost losing to the coach who came before him? Heavens no, but Sirianni has a tendency to do odd stuff, so you never know. Perhaps he has some reverse psychology tricks in his sleeve to defeat Dallas. Thankfully, he maintained a positive tone throughout his news conference, and the Eagles will hopefully act on his promise.
Nick Sirianni vows to end the Eagles’ losing streak in DallasĀ
The Philadelphia football team will experience yet another significant event if the Eagles defeat the Cowboys in Week 10. This will put an end to their losing run in AT&T Stadium, which is now at six games. Sirianni is conscious of his team’s past problems and expects to address them in 2024, much as Philly’s losing streak in Cincinnati earlier in the season.
Yes, you’re constantly motivated to play football and win the next game. Obviously, since I’ve been here, we haven’t won there, which is how I feel about the team. I view this somewhat similarly to New Orleans. In New Orleans, we were given the same question. “Hey, it’s been a while since you guys won there.” With his amazing voice, Merrill made it very evident that we had never won in Cincinnati,” Sirianni told reporters.
And to us, that is meaningless. We simply need to go out there and play a strong game against a good football team, unless it was the dome or the weather. Additionally, manage their audience, their loudness, and the activities we undertake at every football game. This week is being handled just like any other. This week, we want to improve so that we have the best opportunity of defeating a formidable foe.
With Prescott on injured leave, numerous other players down, and momentum on Philadelphia’s side, it appears like this is Philly’s game to win, especially given how the Eagles have fared going into Week 10.
