The Kansas City Chiefs have a knack for finding ways to win, and Week 10 was no exception as they faced off against their division rivals, the Denver Broncos.
The Chiefs pulled out a narrow 16-14 victory in a dramatic fashion.
With the Broncos trailing by just two points, they moved into position for a 35-yard field goal attempt that could have won them the game. For most teams, this would have been more than enough to seal the deal.
But Kansas City had other plans. They stacked the left side of their defensive line, creating enough pressure to block the kick, preserving the win and improving to a perfect 9-0 record.
On the “New Heights” podcast, Travis Kelce’s brother Jason described the play as the most electrifying he had ever witnessed.
“There’s nothing more electric than blocking a kick to win a game,” Jason said. “The place just erupted.”
Travis agreed, sharing that the energy in Arrowhead Stadium left him in awe.
“It got me to the point where, like, my eyes, like the emotion and everything, my eyes started watering,” Travis said. “I was like getting goosebumps. I’m like, ‘This is insane.’”
The crowd went wild as the Chiefs found yet another creative way to come out on top in a game they could have easily lost.
There were some complaints that the blocked field goal was illegal, since a seventh defender was positioned on the left side of the offensive line. However, he wasn’t on the line of scrimmage, so the formation was deemed legal.
With a perfect 9-0 record, the Chiefs will now face another tough challenge as they travel to Buffalo to take on the Bills, in a matchup that has consistently delivered thrilling games.
