Comer applauds House passage of five bills to improve government ‘transparency’

House Committee on Oversight and Accountability Chairman James Comer (R-Ky.) said the GOP-led House of Representatives passed five oversight bills on Wednesday that will “provide better stewardship of American taxpayers’ money by modernizing, streamlining, and securing government operations and projects.”

The five bills, which originated in Comer’s committee, move to the Senate for consideration.  Comer said in a statement that the bills will “deliver more transparency and accountability, both of which the American people demand and deserve from the federal government.”

He also said the House Oversight Committee will “continue to advance solutions to ensure Americans’ investment in their government is spent effectively, efficiently, and transparently.”

The bills passed include the Federal Acquisition Security Council Improvement Act of 2024, the Federal Register Modernization Act, the Value Over Cost Act, the Eliminate Useless Reports Act and the GAO Inspector General Parity Act.
