Is it time for the Suns to give Bol Bol more playing time earlier in games?
It took the Suns 12 games before Bol Bol made his first appearance. With the team facing injuries, should he be seeing more minutes on the court?
Where does Phoenix Suns center Bol Bol currently stand in terms of playing time? For the most part, he’s been relegated to the bench. However, with the Suns conceding games late, Bol has been getting opportunities in garbage time. Every time fans see Bol play, there’s a sense of excitement.
This begs the question: should Bol be given an earlier opportunity to play, potentially boosting the team’s morale while Bradley Beal and Kevin Durant remain out, and Grayson Allen continues to struggle with injuries? It seems like the answer could be yes.
Should the Suns stick to their current strategy, relying on Josh Okogie and Ryan Dunn to energize the offense? Or would it make sense to experiment with Bol in a smaller lineup at the four position alongside Oso Ighodaro to shake things up? This could create more movement in the paint, provide extra length, and add some unpredictable outside shooting.
It feels like the Suns are losing games early due to injuries, so why not experiment by giving Bol more minutes sooner? At this point, there’s little to lose.
I’m in favor of giving it a try. Watching the Suns struggle through rough patches, with uncertainty surrounding the team, is hard to watch. Bringing Bol onto the court earlier—perhaps even in the first quarter—could help build his confidence.
We were all eager to see how Bol would perform this season, especially after a summer of focused training.
Well, let’s see how it goes.
I didn’t expect to see Bol on the court this early and even predicted he wouldn’t play in the first 10 games. But after watching stretches of lackluster effort, it’s become clear that the team needs to try something different.
In his season debut, Bol came into the game with around five minutes left in a blowout loss to the Sacramento Kings. His performance wasn’t particularly eye-catching, but there were moments where his potential was evident.
At this stage, it’s that potential we’re after—players who can come off the bench and bring some energy, making the game more competitive. With challenging matchups against the Minnesota Timberwolves, Orlando Magic, and New York Knicks coming up, the Suns will need to find ways to stay close and stay engaged.
We don’t need to win every game, but a string of blowouts could damage the team’s confidence and morale in the coming week.
It’s tough to watch Beal and Durant sidelined for so long, especially so early in the season. The Suns need a spark during this stretch. Could Bol be the player to ignite the team?
Last season, Bol posted a 25-point, 14-rebound game against the Houston Rockets. When he scored 10 or more points, the Suns had a 6-4 record. To stay competitive in the West, perhaps a surprise performance from Bol during tough stretches could help the Suns secure a few extra wins—or at least boost morale.
Do you think the Suns should look at getting Bol into games earlier, rather than waiting until later?
