Cowboys Starter Suffers Major Injury in First Half Against Texans
Another critical Cowboys player has gone down during their matchup with the Houston Texans.
The Dallas Cowboys’ 2024 season has been anything but smooth. Entering Week 11, they are desperate to end a four-game losing streak against the Texans.
Already without quarterback Dak Prescott for the rest of the season, the team suffered another blow early in the game as another offensive starter exited due to injury.
Jake Ferguson Ruled Out After First Quarter Injury
According to Todd Archer, tight end Jake Ferguson will miss the remainder of the game after being placed in concussion protocol. The third-year player was sidelined in the first quarter and quickly ruled out.
Ferguson, who previously missed just one game this season with a sprained MCL from Week 1, has been productive with 42 receptions for 358 yards, averaging 8.5 yards per catch. Before his injury, he managed one catch for 11 yards.
Losing Ferguson adds to the Cowboys’ challenges, as they are already navigating the absence of Prescott. Head coach Mike McCarthy now faces the task of maximizing the output of his remaining offensive weapons to support backup quarterback Cooper Rush.
Increased Pressure on Cowboys Playmakers
Ferguson’s absence heightens the reliance on star receiver CeeDee Lamb and the rest of the team’s playmakers. For Dallas to overcome the Texans, McCarthy will need to employ creative strategies to generate explosive plays and overcome the loss of key personnel.
When pivotal players are sidelined, the coach must step up to compensate for the gaps. If Dallas hopes to break its losing streak, McCarthy will need to elevate his game and lead the team to a much-needed win.
