Bai Yulu Stuns Donaldson to Reach UK Championship Judgement Day
Bai Yulu has once again demonstrated her resilience and skill, pulling off a dramatic 6-5 victory against Scott Donaldson to advance to the final round of Victorian Plumbing UK Championship qualifying.
The 21-year-old world champion, who trailed 5-3, mounted a stunning comeback with a display of composed break-building under immense pressure.
Resuming the match in a precarious position, Bai crafted breaks of 54 and 51 to level the score at 5-5, forcing a deciding frame. In the final showdown, she delivered her best performance of the match, compiling a superb break of 66—the highest of the contest—to seal the win and book her place at Judgement Day.
“I was very nervous and didn’t think I would win, but I did well,” Bai reflected after the match. “I’m trying not to think too much about the next match. I’ve already achieved a lot by winning three matches and have learned so much along the way.”
Bai’s victory sets up a thrilling clash against the experienced Jack Lisowski tomorrow evening. With a spot in the UK Championship, the first Triple Crown event of the season, on the line, Bai will be looking to continue her incredible run and further establish her presence on the big stage.
