BREAKING: Eels Prepare for Major Mitch Moses Contract Decision after Challenging Season

Eels plan for huge Mitch Moses contract development following horror year

The Eels are reportedly planning on removing the controversial contract clauses written into star halfback Mitch Moses’ deal.

This year has been mighty tough for Eels fans, but club brass is attempting to bring some welcome good news to their loyal supporter base by ensuring Moses remains a Eel for the rest of his playing career.

As it stands, Moses is under contract has player options in his deal for 2027 and 2028.

If things in Parramatta don’t get any better next season, under his current contract, Moses could in all likelihood be a free agent come November 1, 2025.

According to The Daily Telegraph, the Eels front office want to ensure Moses’ future is at Parramatta by moving to erase the player options from his deal and lock the halfback up long-term.

Moses isn’t the only Eel with multiple player options in his deal.

Halves partner Dylan Brown can lay claim to owning one of the stranger contracts in the NRL, with player options from 2026 through to 2031.

If the Eels are successful in removing the options from Moses’ deal, it’ll likely mean a salary increase for Moses if similar past situations involving rival clubs are anything to go by.

Moses has been in outstanding form of late, even leading the Blues to a rare Origin series win this past year.

While the Eels have had a shocking two seasons since reaching the grand final in 2022, there is hope in the air given the club’s signing of new coach Jason Ryles.

Ryles has had to make some tough calls early into his tenure, including letting captain Clint Gutherson go, but there in addition to the likes of Moses and Brown, there is enough talent in the building to turn things around quickly.

With Gutherson gone, Moses is a short favourite to be tasked with the captaincy.
