FC Barcelona Icon Xavi Rules Out Inter Miami Move with Messi, SPORT Claims

FC Barcelona Legend Xavi Decides Against Messi Reunion at Inter Miami

Xavi Hernandez and Lionel Messi, both products of La Masia, have been linked to a potential reunion at Inter Miami, where Xavi was rumored to be a candidate for the head coach position.

Reports from SPORT, citing anonymous sources, reveal that the Barcelona icon has already made his stance on the matter clear.

Inter Miami’s head coach role became available after Tata Martino stepped down this week for personal reasons, as reported by ESPN. Several notable names, including Tite, Joachim Low, Frank Lampard, and Erik ten Hag, are being considered for the position, with Xavi also appearing on the shortlist according to Mundo Deportivo and SPORT.

However, SPORT reports that Xavi’s decision remains consistent with his previous stance when linked to Manchester United after Erik ten Hag’s dismissal.

Last month, Xavi reportedly declined the opportunity to coach United, opting instead for a sabbatical. Initially planning to resign from Barcelona at the end of the 2023/2024 season, Xavi later agreed to fulfill his contract until June 30, 2025.

After openly addressing Barcelona’s financial struggles and their impact on competing with Real Madrid, Xavi was dismissed by President Joan Laporta. This led him to take a break from soccer to focus on family and personal time.

As a result, a move to Florida for a reunion with Messi, Sergio Busquets, Jordi Alba, and Luis Suarez at Inter Miami seems unlikely for now.

Nevertheless, Xavi could return to coaching next season, with interest from clubs such as Ajax and Roma highlighting his continued demand in European and global soccer.
