The Washington Commanders are set to host the Dallas Cowboys at Northwest Stadium in Week 12, hoping to break a two-game losing streak.
Meanwhile, the Cowboys are reeling from a five-game losing streak, including a fifth consecutive home loss by at least 20 points.
Washington has also faced challenges, most recently a 26-18 defeat against the Philadelphia Eagles in Week 11 that knocked them out of first place in the NFC East.
The offense has struggled since rookie quarterback Jayden Daniels suffered a rib injury in Week 7, and the defense has been unable to pick up the slack.
Despite these difficulties, Washington still holds an 82 percent chance of making the playoffs but needs to capitalize on upcoming games against Dallas and Tennessee.
Help may soon arrive. Four-time Pro Bowl cornerback Marshon Lattimore, acquired via trade earlier in the season, has yet to debut for Washington due to a hamstring injury.
Head coach Dan Quinn provided an encouraging update, saying, “I’m hopeful that he’s able to see the field some. He’s trending in the right space.
” Lattimore has been ramping up his rehab and working to fit into the Commanders’ defensive scheme.
However, Quinn emphasized caution, stating, “We’re not going to take the chance if it’s not all the way ready.
The good news is we’re trending in a really strong way, and we’ll see what the week looks like, but we’re moving in the right direction, that’s for sure.”
As Quinn prepares to face his former team, the Cowboys, the Commanders are optimistic that Lattimore’s return could bolster their struggling defense.
A victory would revitalize Washington’s playoff hopes and keep them in the NFC East race.
With Lattimore potentially joining the lineup, the Commanders aim to recapture their early-season form and finish the season on a high note.
