The Detroit Lions are one of the NFL’s most dominant and complete teams this season. With a 9-1 record, they are alone atop the NFC standings. Quarterback Jared Goff’s efficient play has contributed significantly to Detroit’s success. Goff has completed 73% of his throws this season, totalling 2,492 yards and 20 touchdown passes. He did, however, have nine interceptions, five of which came in the same game.

However, the Lions did select a quarterback in the 2023 NFL Draft. This was done with the purpose of having someone there to replace Goff eventually, but with Goff’s spectacular 2023 season, which led Detroit all the way to the NFC Championship game, and this season looking even better, it’s safe to say Jared Goff isn’t leaving anytime soon.

Detroit Lions Could Trade Away Quarterback

Former Tennessee Volunteers star quarterback Hendon Hooker may be on the move next season. Hooker was selected by the Lions in the third round of the 2023 NFL draft. The former Tennessee product was regarded to be a first-round talent, and some pundits even put him among the best quarterbacks in the draft, including CJ Stroud and Bryce Young.

Unfortunately, in his final season at Tennessee, the standout quarterback tore his ACL. This injury had a big impact on Hooker’s draft stock entering the NFL Draft process. During his undergraduate career at Virginia Tech and Tennessee, Hooker passed for 8,974 yards and 80 touchdowns with only 12 interceptions. The standout quarterback would also dash for 2,079 yards and 25 rushing touchdowns.

There are plenty of NFL teams in desperate need of a starting caliber quarterback, especially one willing to come in on a cheap contract and prove he belongs. Hendon Hooker showed signs of being a truly talented quarterback in college. Being stuck behind Jared Goff on the Lions depth chart has only made him better, he’s had time to sit and learn with the minds of Goff, Ben Johnson, and Dan Campbell.

The Raiders of Las Vegas.

If they keep head coach Antonio Pierce, the Raiders make sense. due to Pierce’s strong desire to try to trade up and get Jayden Daniels in the most recent selection. Pierce has expertise with a more adaptable quarterback like Hooker because he also worked with Daniels at Arizona State.

The New York Giants.

Daniel Jones, the Giants’ starter, was just benched, and they seem to be struggling for the first overall pick. Therefore, they might select their future starter there, but it might be a game-changer for the club if they decided to add Hooker and select a playmaker like Travis Hunter with the first overall pick.

The Cleveland Browns.

The Browns are in salary cap horror right now. The organisation has found it extremely difficult to invest in a solid replacement for the poor passer because of Deshaun Watson’s contract. Hendon Hooker might be a cost-effective substitute who possesses many of the abilities Cleveland was hoping Watson would bring from Houston.

Miami Dolphins.

The future of current starter Tua Tagovailoa is crucial in this one. No one would blame Tua if he abruptly retired this off-season due to his history of concussions. It might be risky to insert Hooker into the Miami offence alongside players like Tyreek Hill, Jaylen Waddle, and De’Von Achane. The former Vol could be able to realise his full NFL potential with coach Mike McDaniel’s assistance.
