Justin Tucker hasn’t been himself this season. He has missed enough kicks this year to lose his all-time high field goal percentage, but he can certainly regain it. The all-time kicker continued his year-long difficulties against the Pittsburgh Steelers, missing two vital field goals in an 18-16 defeat.
Now the kicker has disclosed his intentions for resolving the issues, and he is confident that he will be able to return to his famous form. If the Baltimore Ravens want to make the Super Bowl, they will need him to perform well in the postseason.
Justin Tucker Knows How To Fix His Kicking Struggles
Tucker had missed 47 and 50-yard field goals in their divisional loss, both of which would have been simple for one of the finest to ever play the position. That was the key difference in the Ravens’ loss to the Steelers, and it will be an important aspect of the Ravens game to watch as the season concludes and the playoffs begin. The star kicker initially blamed his problems on the field at Steelers Stadium, but opponent kicker Chris Boswell has had no trouble making all six field goals from various locations on the field.
On Wednesday, the kicker addressed his difficulties, and he is certain that he can make the necessary changes and return to his customary ways:
“Believe me when I say, nobody takes it more personally than I do. Nobody is more affected than me when I miss a kick. So, yeah I take it really personally. ”
Justin Tucker spoke to the media today about his recent struggles on the field.
He also said that the issue has been persistent, so he only needs to make simple fixes to get things back on track.
“The adjustment is pretty clear. I just need to make a point to not let the ball go left,” Tucker said.
As Tucker alluded to, both of Tucker’s attempts sailed wide left, and other kicks he has missed this season have had the same problem. Tucker is well down from his regular proportion of kicks made, as he is 16-22 for field goals this season at 72.7%, which is significantly lower than his usual rate, and this year he has the lowest percentage of his career. Despite his misses, he is still above average in relation to the rest of the NFL, but these critical misses are something fans have never seen from him in his whole career.
If he can get back on track, he will be critical in Ravens postseason games, which often come down to the kicker in the fourth quarter. He won’t be able to return those important kicks against the Steelers, but he can definitely aid this club down the stretch of the season. Can Tucker get back on track, or is this a foreshadowing of things to come for the all-time kicker?
