Dodgers Star Outfielder Worth $71 Million Expected to Leave Los Angeles for the Twins
The Los Angeles Dodgers made a great move in last winter’s free agency when they signed outfielder Teoscar Hernández to a one-year contract. Hernández played a key role in the team’s success, helping them secure the 2024 World Series championship.
However, Hernández is now a free agent and free to sign with any team. While he previously expressed a desire to stay with the Dodgers, in the end, money will likely be the deciding factor.
FanSided’s Nick Villano believes Hernández will not return to the Dodgers for the 2025 season. Instead, he anticipates the outfielder will make a surprising move to the Minnesota Twins.
“Given how badly the season ended for the Minnesota Twins, no one expects them to sit idle,” Villano noted. “There is a complicating factor, though, as the Twins are considering a sale, and teams tend to be cautious with their finances during such a process. However, this is a team that can’t afford to waste an offseason. Besides, Hernández won’t be signing a deal that will dramatically impact the franchise’s valuation.”
Spotrac predicts Hernández will sign a three-year, $71 million contract, a deal the Twins could certainly manage, particularly if they view him as the biggest acquisition of the offseason.
It would be a major win for the Twins, though it’s unclear whether the Dodgers will let him go easily. It seems likely that the Dodgers will show their appreciation for his performance and loyalty with a strong contract offer.
