This Sunday, the Detroit Lions face off against the Indianapolis Colts, and it’s shaping up to be a showdown of the league’s top deep threats. Alec Pierce leads the NFL with 22.7 yards per catch, while Jameson Williams trails closely at 22.4 yards. The craziest part? No one else is even close to these two.
But here’s the twist: Williams couldn’t care less about chasing this stat. When asked if he wants to lead the league, his response was as laid-back as it gets.
“Nah, that stat don’t really matter to me,” Williams said. “I just look at it like, I’m big play. However the yards match up with the catches and stuff like that, I think they divide some type of stuff, I don’t know. I don’t look at that stat, for real.”
Williams’ career so far has been a rollercoaster—injuries, suspensions, and some off-field drama have clouded his potential. But when he’s on the field, the guy is electric. He’s all about making big plays, and the numbers? Those are just an afterthought.
This matchup will definitely be one to watch, even if Williams isn’t paying attention to the scoreboard.
