The Dallas Cowboys are the perfect example of a team that makes the internet go crazy for all the wrong reasons. When Daniel Jones, the recently released quarterback for the New York Giants, showed up on the official Cowboys roster on a Friday afternoon, both fans and members of the media were left perplexed. Yes, you read correctly: the Dallas Cowboys momentarily listed Daniel Jones, who had just been cut by the Giants.

The moment was ideal. Jones somehow ended up on the Cowboys’ official website just hours after the Giants shockingly decided to cut ties with him. Fans were in a frenzy after hearing the news, with many speculating that Jones will soon be joining the Cowboys to replace Dak Prescott. Jokes and memes about Jones perhaps being the solution to Dallas’ quarterback problems went viral on social media. Why wouldn’t Jones be the next Cowboys saviour? That was a genuine question on some people’s minds.

Naturally, the Cowboys quickly discovered that their website had been compromised. Before screenshots of the “Daniel Jones, Cowboys QB” page got viral, the profile was quickly deleted. The media and fans, who were already quick to criticise the Cowboys for previous postseason failures, couldn’t help but add more. A hilarious catastrophe was inevitable when Jones, a player who was mostly thought to be cut by his last squad, was abruptly added to Dallas’ roster.

This most recent episode just serves to highlight how the internet can always find a way to make even the most serious situations amusing, even while the Cowboys’ public relations team works tirelessly to clean up the mess. Daniel Jones has therefore made his stamp on Dallas’s website, and the memes will endure long after the page has been removed, even though he may not be joining the Cowboys anytime soon.
