Cowboys’ second-round pick of 2024, Marshawn Kneeland, suffered a knee injury early in his first chance to prove himself.

The injury came during the Cowboys’ recent win over the Pittsburgh Steelers. Already coping with injuries to Micah Parsons and DeMarcus Lawrence earlier this season, Kneeland’s setback further weakened their depth at EDGE rusher.

His opportunity to make an impression ended prematurely, dampening his chances. With Sam Williams also injured over the summer, the Cowboys found themselves down four EDGE rushers early in the season.

Now, Kneeland has an opening to return to the field. While Carl Lawson has been performing well, the rookie has a chance to demonstrate his potential.

With DeMarcus Lawrence, a key run defender, still sidelined, Kneeland has an opportunity to show he can perform at a high level. The remaining games provide a critical window for him to prove his worth.

WR – Brandin Cooks

After a standout touchdown pass in Week 1, Brandin Cooks had been quiet before a knee infection sidelined him for nearly seven weeks.

Cooks was a vital piece of depth for Dak Prescott and the Cowboys’ offense. Without him, the remaining receivers struggled to step up, even with Jonathan Mingo’s addition. Having Cooks back adds much-needed experience to a young and inconsistent group.

The timing is ideal, as the wide receiver group is battling injuries. CeeDee Lamb, who was injured against the Eagles a few weeks ago, has been a limited participant in practice.

While he was a full participant on Friday, per Fox Sports, his availability remains uncertain. Cooks is also listed as questionable but could be critical for the offense.

This is a perfect moment for him to shine, as his contract is set to expire, giving him a chance to showcase his value if he plans to continue playing in the NFL.

CB – DaRon Bland

Despite a false injury report a few weeks ago, DaRon Bland is finally ready to return. The cornerback has had three full practices this week, signaling that he’s trending in the right direction.

Last year’s breakout star is set to make his return before the season ends. With Jourdan Lewis also dealing with an injury, Bland could step in and deliver another strong performance.

For Bland, this is a critical moment. His contract is nearing its end, and these games are his chance to prove his value to the team.

While his injury history might influence his next deal, the Cowboys know how essential his contributions were last season. The hope is that he can reignite that same impact in the remaining games this year.

Cowboys Injuries Easing Up

As the season progresses, there’s growing optimism about injured players returning. While some players, like Bland, have struggled to stay on the field, others are making their way back.

Despite injuries derailing much of the Cowboys’ season, the hope is that these will be the last setbacks.

With Cooper Rush starting at quarterback, the team will need every weapon available to secure victories in the remaining games.
