Here’s everything Detroit Lions quarterback Jared Goff shared in his postgame press conference after their 24-6 win over the Indianapolis Colts, improving to 10-1 on the season.
On the defensive performance:
“They’re playing really well right now. What they’ve done over the past two games is pretty remarkable.
Even going back to the second half against Houston, right? I don’t think they’ve given up a touchdown since then. That’s not easy to do, and they’re playing great football, especially tightening up in the red zone and keeping opponents from scoring for a while now.”
On the value of wide receiver Tim Patrick:
“He’s awesome. Just a really good football player. He consistently does the right thing every time.
He’s a big target with great hands, and he catches away from his body. I trust him in traffic.
I can throw it in there knowing he’ll go get it. He made a few nice plays today.”
On Amon-Ra St. Brown as the backup punt returner:
“Do I have thoughts on it? Not really. I’m not sure what the plan is there. I thought he did fine today.”
On having two effective running backs:
“We’re fortunate to have two workhorses, which is pretty rare. We’ve got two guys who can carry the load. Like today, when one was out for a bit, the other stepped up.
It’ll probably go back and forth during the season. We’re lucky to have both, and they do a fantastic job.”
On fans chanting his name on the road:
“It’s a pretty great feeling, especially on the road. Whether they’re chanting for me or not, having a fan base that travels and impacts the game is incredible.
I’ve been reflecting on this lately—our fans don’t just attend games; they show up to make a difference. They’ve done it at home, and they’ve done it on the road, like today or even in Houston and Arizona.
They take it upon themselves to influence the game, and we love it. The support they show me and the team is something I’ll always appreciate.”
On the next 24 hours:
“I’ll start watching tape pretty soon—probably tonight—and begin prepping. Our coaches will have things ready for us by tomorrow morning, and we’ll get to work.”
On back-to-back 10-win seasons:
“It’s really cool, for sure. The turnaround has been incredible, but we’re not satisfied yet. What we’re doing is great, but we’ve got a big divisional game this week at home.
And there’s this Thanksgiving thing—we haven’t won on Thanksgiving in a while, and we want to change that.”
On staying composed despite injuries:
“There was some chaos in the huddle for a moment, figuring out who was where. Ben (Johnson) called a screen play, which simplified things for the backside.
Everyone adjusted quickly, and then (Dan) Skipper stepped in, and we kept rolling. But yeah, there was a bit of confusion for a second.”
On the value of wide receiver Tim Patrick (again):
“He’s just a really great player. Always consistent and reliable. He’s a big, physical presence with strong hands, and he can catch anything in traffic.
I trust him to go up and get it, and he had a couple of nice grabs today.”
On Amon-Ra St. Brown as the backup punt returner (again):
“Thoughts? Not much. I’m not sure what the plan is, but I think he did well today.”
