Mike Tomlin of the Steelers Issues a Firm Warning Regarding the Use of the “Justin Fields Package”
Head coach Mike Tomlin remained firm when questioned about the Pittsburgh Steelers’ contentious use of the “Justin Fields package” in Week 12.
On November 26, Tomlin assured reporters, “Definitely, there’s a chance of [breaking the rhythm of the offense], but we’re more excited about the challenges that it presents the opposing unit, and I think that’s reflective of our general attitude — we live in our hope as opposed to our fears.”
Although he would not specify how frequently Pittsburgh would use the dual threat quarterback in the future, Tomlin had already acknowledged that the Fields package is now “a component of what [the Steelers] do” offensively.
“Justin [Fields] is a viable and capable dude once he gets healthy,” Tomlin stated. It’s something that our adversaries need to understand. The amount and timing of our usage will rely on our weekly plans.
