Two Names Are Betting Favorites for the Next Chicago Bears Head Coach

It is almost certain that the Chicago Bears will have a new head coach when the season concludes in January. Matt Eberflus passed the point of no return in the eyes of many weeks ago. He continues to lose tight games, nearly jeopardized his young quarterback with another poor coordinator selection, and even his once-dominant defense is showing signs of decline. He now has no more justifications. The only remaining question is whether he makes it through the entire season or if the Bears break tradition and fire him before then.

The focus has now shifted to who will replace him once the search begins. Many interesting candidates are expected to be available, and experts have weighed in on the topic. So have sports bettors. Recent odds were released by Six Point Sports and The 33rd Team, and one thing is clear: it’s currently a tight race between two notable NFL assistants for the job.

This trend seems pretty evident for the Chicago Bears.
Las Vegas suggests they are looking for a young, accomplished offensive coach to pair with Caleb Williams for the future. Ben Johnson, at 38 years old, runs the #1 scoring offense in the NFL and has delivered a top-10 unit for the past three seasons with the Detroit Lions. Thanks to his efforts, the Lions are now firmly in the Super Bowl contender conversation. Joe Brady, the 35-year-old offensive coordinator for the Buffalo Bills, is also a strong contender, as the Bills boast the #3 scoring offense, with quarterback Josh Allen emerging as a heavy MVP frontrunner.

Perhaps the most intriguing aspect of both lists is that Thomas Brown, the Bears’ newly promoted offensive coordinator, ranks third. This further emphasizes the growing belief that the team might consider promoting from within. Regardless, the data points to one conclusion: the Bears will prioritize finding a coach with expertise in developing quarterbacks.
