Melbourne Storm skipper Harry Grant is being celebrated as a hero after rescuing two teenagers caught in a rip at First Bay Beach on Queensland’s Sunshine Coast.
The 26-year-old was surfing around midday on Wednesday, enjoying the offseason after a demanding year that included the NRL Grand Final. When he noticed the swimmers struggling near rocks, Grant paddled over on his board and brought them to safety.
Parents of the teens expressed their gratitude on social media, hailing Grant’s quick action and kindness. David Begley, the father of one of the boys, shared how Grant not only helped but also took time to chat with the teens, calling him “an awesome bloke.”
Another parent, Kellie Metcalfe, described Grant as “a legend,” thanking him for his heroic act and the positive impact he had on the star-struck boys.
Grant’s actions off the field have cemented his reputation as a role model, showcasing his leadership extends far beyond the rugby league.
