NBA roundup: Anthony Edwards leads Timberwolves past Clippers

November 30 – Anthony Edwards hit a crucial 3-pointer with 2:24 left, securing a 93-92 victory for the Minnesota Timberwolves against the Los Angeles Clippers in Minneapolis during NBA Cup West Group A play. Minnesota managed to grab two offensive rebounds in the closing moments to run down the clock. Edwards finished with 21 points, helping the Timberwolves conclude group play with a 2-2 record. For Los Angeles, James Harden contributed 20 points and 11 assists, while Zubac added a double-double of 16 points and 13 rebounds, making their record 1-2 in West Group A with one game left to play. Kevin Porter Jr. added 17 points but suffered an apparent ankle injury late in the game.

 

In other matchups, the Hawks defeated the Cavaliers 117-101, with De’Andre Hunter scoring a team-high 23 points and Trae Young adding 21 points and 11 assists. Atlanta clinched the East Group C title with this victory. Darius Garland led Cleveland with 29 points, but the Cavaliers have lost three of their last five games.

 

The Knicks edged out the Hornets 99-98, thanks to Jalen Brunson’s late surge, scoring 11 of his 31 points in the final five minutes. New York improved to 3-0 in group play, supported by double-doubles from both Karl-Anthony Towns and Josh Hart.

 

In a commanding performance, the Magic overwhelmed the Nets 123-100, driven by Franz Wagner’s 29 points. Orlando improved to 3-0 in Group A, shooting 53% and hitting a season-high 18 three-pointers.

 

The Grizzlies secured their first NBA Cup victory by defeating the Pelicans 120-107, led by Ja Morant’s 27 points, while New Orleans suffered its seventh consecutive loss without key players Zion Williamson and Brandon Ingram. 

 

The Pistons remained undefeated in the NBA Cup, defeating the Pacers 130-106 as Cade Cunningham returned from injury with 24 points. 

 

In a high-scoring affair, the Celtics triumphed over the Bulls 138-129 with Jayson Tatum leading with 35 points. The Heat bested the Raptors 121-111, driven by Jimmy Butler’s game-high 26 points, though both teams are out of contention for the NBA Cup.

 

Lastly, the Trail Blazers defeated the Kings 115-106, with Deandre Ayton scoring 26 points to help secure the win, while the Thunder topped the Lakers 101-93, powered by Shai Gilgeous-Alexander’s impressive 36 points.
