Detroit Lions head coach Dan Campbell has issued a warning to his players after running back Jahmyr Gibbs inadvertently shared sensitive team information on social media. The post, which included video footage of teammate Jermar Jefferson in front of a whiteboard, appeared to reveal offensive plays and pass protection codes.

Campbell’s Firm Stance on Team Security

When asked about the incident during a press conference, Campbell seemed initially unaware of the situation but quickly expressed his concerns.

“Yeah, I need to check on that then. I’d rather our stuff not be out there,” Campbell said.

The Lions coach emphasized the importance of protecting playbook details, especially as the team gears up for a potential deep playoff run.

Gibbs’ Stellar Season Overshadowed by Mishap

Despite the slip-up, Gibbs has been a standout performer for the Lions this season. Through 12 games, the second-year running back has already surpassed his rookie stats, amassing:

  • 973 rushing yards
  • 10 rushing touchdowns
  • 28 receptions for 282 yards
  • 1 receiving touchdown

However, his Thanksgiving performance against the Chicago Bears was mixed. Gibbs fumbled early and dropped a critical pass, which led to a reduced role in the second half as veteran David Montgomery carried the load.

Campbell Downplays Gibbs’ Reduced Role

Campbell clarified that Gibbs’ limited usage in the second half wasn’t a punishment but a result of the offense’s struggles to sustain drives.

“We kind of cycled those guys … we just didn’t get a lot of plays,” Campbell explained.

Lions Stay Hot with 10th Straight Win

Despite nearly blowing a 16-0 lead against the Bears, the Lions held on for a 23-20 victory. The win extended their streak to 10 games and gave them a two-game cushion over the Philadelphia Eagles for the NFC’s top seed.

Looking Ahead

As the Lions continue their historic season, incidents like the Gibbs “leak” serve as reminders of the importance of maintaining focus and discipline both on and off the field. With key matchups against NFC North rivals ahead, Campbell and the Lions will need all hands on deck—and all plays under wraps—to solidify their Super Bowl aspirations.
