Lions Sign Myles Adams from Seahawks’ Practice Squad Amid Injuries

Myles Adams, a former defensive lineman for the Seattle Seahawks, has a new team, and he’s been given an opportunity to play on a top NFC contender.

The Detroit Lions, already hit by numerous injuries, have signed Adams from the Seahawks’ practice squad, adding him to their active roster on Saturday.

NFL rules prevent players from being taken directly from one team’s practice squad to another, so Adams will now be a part of Detroit’s roster for the foreseeable future.

This move comes after Seattle waived Adams from their active roster earlier in the season when they claimed former Los Angeles Chargers safety A.J. Finley.

After clearing waivers, Adams was signed to Seattle’s practice squad on Thursday, following the release of defensive tackle Quinton Bohanna.

While this roster shift took place on Thanksgiving Day, it flew under the radar.

The Lions, who have enjoyed a stellar 11-1 record and are on a 10-game winning streak, are facing a crisis on the defensive side of the ball.

Key players have been sidelined by injuries, including star defensive end Aidan Hutchinson, who suffered a leg fracture in October.

The team’s defense has been further depleted, with linebacker Alex Anzalone

out for several weeks due to a forearm fracture, linebacker Malcolm Rodriguez lost for the rest of the season with an ACL tear, and defensive tackle Mekhi Wingo also out for the remainder of the year with a knee injury.

Additional injuries to defensive linemen Levi Onwuzurike and Josh Paschal mean they’re unlikely to play in the upcoming game against the Green Bay Packers.

As a result, the Lions have had to bring in reinforcements, signing three players from other teams’ practice squads, including Adams.

Along with Adams, linebacker Kwon Alexander (formerly of the Denver Broncos) and defensive lineman Jonah Williams (formerly with the Los Angeles Rams) were added to the team.

These moves highlight the depth issues that the Lions are facing, but also demonstrate the team’s efforts to remain competitive despite their injuries.

Adams, who has been part of the Seahawks organization in some capacity since 2020, has bounced between the active roster and the practice squad over his career. In his 26 NFL games, he has accumulated 30 tackles, 3 quarterback hits, 1 pass deflection, and 1 sack.

While his time in Seattle has been relatively low-profile, the severity of Detroit’s defensive injuries might give Adams an opportunity for significant playing time in the coming weeks.

With Adams now off the Seahawks’ practice squad, the team has an open spot, which could lead to additional roster moves.

The current composition of the Seahawks’ practice squad as of November 30 includes several notable players:

Offensive Players:

QB Jaren Hall (No. 15)

QB John Rhys Plumlee (No. 17)

RB George Holani (No. 36)

As the Seahawks continue to navigate their own roster challenges, Adams’ departure from the practice squad presents them with the opportunity to make adjustments in the near future.   Meanwhile, Adams now has a chance to contribute to the Lions’ push for playoff contention, helping to
