Jamal Adams’ Surprise Signing by Lions Leads to Brief Three-Word Remark

The Detroit Lions, dealing with several defensive injuries, made another significant move on Friday, signing former Pro Bowl linebacker Kwon Alexander.

Just two days later, they made another surprising acquisition.

On Sunday, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported that the Lions are bringing in Jamal Adams,

a three-time Pro Bowl safety, to their practice squad with plans to elevate him to the active roster soon.

Adams, 29, most recently played three games for the Tennessee Titans earlier this season before being cut on his birthday, October 17. This marks his eighth season in the NFL and will be his fourth team.

Adams posted a brief message on social media after the news broke: “God is good,” he wrote on X on Saturday evening.

The safety, drafted by the New York Jets in the first round of the 2017 NFL Draft, earned All-Pro honors in 2019.

Over his career, he has accumulated 498 tackles, 36 pass breakups, 21.5 sacks, seven forced fumbles, and four interceptions.

However, injuries have slowed his career in recent years.

Since 2021, Adams has not played more than nine games in a season, missing significant time due to a torn shoulder labrum in January 2021, a torn quad in September 2022, and a knee strain in December 2023.

The Lions’ safety group is led by Brian Branch and Kerby Joseph, with undrafted free agents Loren Strickland and Brandon Joseph providing depth.

Detroit is currently leading the NFL with an 11-1 record after their narrow 23-20 victory over the Chicago Bears on Thanksgiving.

With three of their last five regular-season games against NFC North rivals, including a highly anticipated Thursday Night Football matchup with the Green Bay Packers later this week, the Lions are aiming to stay strong heading into the postseason.
