FC Argeș – FC Botoșani 0-3. Bogdan Andone and Liviu Ciobotariu’s reactions after the Cup match: “This cost us”
Coaches Bogdan Andone and Liviu Ciobotariu shared their initial reactions following the Romanian Cup match between FC Argeș and FC Botoșani, with the final score being 0-3.
FC Botoșani claimed a decisive 3-0 victory in the Romanian Cup against FC Argeș. The Moldovans are now in second place in Group A with three points, while the Pitești team sits in fifth place with one point.
Bogdan Andone’s comments after FC Argeș – FC Botoșani. The coach of the second-tier team still praised his players for their performance, despite the loss.
“I want to congratulate the players for the way they played, despite the scoreline. I believe we created more chances during the game. We had two good opportunities at 0-1 to get back in the game. Then, from a corner, it became 2-0, and the crucial moment was the penalty situation, when… I saw the replay and instead of 2-1, it was a long ball and 3-0.
That was the turning point, the game broke apart and ended. We had situations exactly as we practice in training. I’m happy with the play and attitude, but dissatisfied with the easy goals we conceded due to lack of focus. We played against an experienced Liga 1 team.
When we compare ourselves to Liga 2, even though we create chances, we score too little. The players need to be more focused, and you have to score to win. Either the execution wasn’t good, or the decision was wrong, and that’s how the game went. As long as we have mathematical chances, we will keep playing.
We still have a game in Afumați, then another one in the championship, and after that, we play Afumați again. The Liga 2 competition is tough, it’s more athletic and combative. I believe our best games have been against CFR and Botoșani in terms of gameplay, while in Liga 2 there are many duels, an uncontrollable type of play. We must aim for the play-off,” said Bogdan Andone, according to orangesport.ro.
Liviu Ciobotariu, happy after the FC Argeș match
Liviu Ciobotariu remarked that the match was not an easy one, with FC Argeș having many opportunities to score.
“It wasn’t an easy match because we could have made it difficult for ourselves. At 1-0, Argeș had big chances to score, but we were the more experienced team and controlled the game. We had 10-15 minutes when we ceded some ground, allowing them chances, but overall, we played better than today’s opponent.
They are a team that passes well and is solid, but experience made the difference. We were more inspired and had more quality in attack. I’m happy with the performance, it was a very important game in the Romanian Cup, and any other result would have taken us out of the qualification race. The chances are still open, we have one more game to play against Ceahlăul Piatra Neamț.
Just two days ago, I had a discussion with the players, we studied and analyzed the opponent, and I pointed out that they have many players with Liga 1 experience. My team showed maturity, stayed focused, and I want to congratulate them,” said Liviu Ciobotariu, according to the cited source.
