Dallas Cowboys LB DeMarvion Overshown Suffers Serious Knee Injury Against Bengals
Former Texas Longhorns standout and current Dallas Cowboys linebacker DeMarvion Overshown suffered a severe knee injury during Monday Night Football against the Cincinnati Bengals.
Overshown’s season ended abruptly after the injury, which occurred with 12:49 remaining in the fourth quarter as he attempted to tackle Bengals running back Chase Brown. Following the play, Overshown was assisted to the locker room for further evaluation.
Reports from ESPN on Monday night indicated that Overshown likely sustained multiple knee injuries, including a torn ACL.
Cowboys head coach Mike McCarthy refrained from providing a definitive diagnosis after the game but acknowledged the gravity of the situation.
“It’s of serious nature,” McCarthy said. “It didn’t look good.”
Overshown is set to undergo further tests on Tuesday to confirm the extent of the damage.
This marks the second consecutive season-ending injury for Overshown, who tore his ACL during the preseason last year. He is also the second former Longhorn to suffer such a setback over the weekend, following running back Jonathon Brooks, who re-tore his ACL on Sunday.
A beloved figure during his time at Texas, Overshown had quickly won over Cowboys fans and teammates this season, earning praise for his on-field contributions and leadership. Cowboys star Micah Parsons expressed heartbreak over the injury.
“I cried,” Parsons told ESPN. “He’s like my little brother. He doesn’t deserve this. Just knowing what he’s going to endure physically and mentally—it’s tough. He was having a great year. It just doesn’t seem fair.”Overshown’s season ends with impressive stats: 90 total tackles, five sacks, and one interception returned for a touchdown.
