BYU Guard Egor Demin to Miss Time Due to Injury
BYU freshman guard Egor Demin will be sidelined for a short period due to an injury.
Demin is expected to miss about a week and a half after sustaining a knee contusion. The injury occurred early in last Tuesday’s game against Providence, which BYU lost.
Demin suffered a knee contusion
Demin struggled offensively in the Providence game, missing all ten of his field goal attempts. He was seen wearing a sleeve on his left knee in the second half.
Tonight, BYU will face Fresno State at the Marriott Center. Fresno State enters the game with a 3-6 record and is on a four-game losing streak.
Following Fresno State, BYU has two more non-conference games before entering Big 12 play. They will play Wyoming on December 14 at the Delta Center and conclude the non-conference schedule against Florida A&M on December 20.
Big 12 action begins for BYU on December 31 in Provo against Arizona State, now less than three weeks away.
Demin has been a standout in his debut season, starting all eight games for BYU this year. The highly touted five-star recruit joined BYU after playing for Real Madrid.
This season, Demin is averaging 13.3 points, 5.8 assists, and 4.6 rebounds per game. The 6-foot-9 guard is shooting 49.3% from the field and 38.5% from beyond the arc.
NBA draft analysts widely project Demin as a potential lottery pick in next June’s draft.
