This Sunday, Detroit Lions head coach Dan Campbell faces one of his toughest challenges yet as his team hosts the 10-3 Buffalo Bills and their MVP-caliber quarterback, Josh Allen. With both teams being playoff frontrunners, the matchup is shaping up to be a potential Super Bowl preview.
Campbell highlighted the Bills’ physicality and well-rounded offense during his media session. “I feel like it starts up front,” Campbell said. “Their offensive line is physical, their backs are physical, and obviously Josh Allen. Their tight ends block well, and their receivers are willing to block, which is unusual in today’s game. It’s a physical offense. It’s going to be a challenge, but we’re excited for it. It’s a great opportunity.”
Josh Allen, enjoying a career-best season, has already racked up 3,033 passing yards, 23 touchdowns, and only five interceptions. His dual-threat ability was on full display in the Bills’ recent loss to the Los Angeles Rams, where he threw for 348 yards and three touchdowns while also rushing for 82 yards and three more scores.
Campbell is well aware of the threat Allen poses. “He just does a phenomenal job extending plays with not only his legs, but he’s got a cannon. His arm is unbelievable, too,” Campbell said. “This is a unique player in this league, and we have our work cut out for us. It’s going to come down to doing our job at the highest level and containing him.”
With the Lions riding an 11-game winning streak and sitting at 12-1, Sunday’s game at Ford Field is expected to be a thrilling clash of two NFL heavyweights. Campbell’s squad will look to slow down Allen and continue their historic season as they push toward a deep playoff run.
