On Saturday night in Salt Lake City, BYU defeated Wyoming 68-49 thanks to one of its best defensive performances of the year. BYU defeated the Cowboys for the fifteenth time in a row. Transfer to Rutgers Mawot Mag scored 11 points off the bench and displayed his signature tough defence in what was undoubtedly his greatest game as a Cougar. Richie Saunders was removed from the game two minutes in due to a gash on his lip, giving Mag additional runs. Whenever Mag was in the game, he dominated Wyoming’s backcourt and made three three-pointers.

With 15 points, Trevin Knell led BYU in scoring, and Dawson Baker maintained his strong play by scoring 11 points off the bench. Egor Demin’s knee injury kept him out of action for the second straight game. The BYU team shot 9–20 (45%) from three and 52% from the field. In contrast, Wyoming made 6-24 (25%) three-pointers and 42% from the field. Despite having five offensive rebounds, BYU, one of the top offensive rebounding teams in the country, kept this game from being a complete landslide.

BYU is now 8-2 on the season and will play its last non-conference game against Florida A&M on Friday before facing Arizona State on December 31 to start Big 12 play.
