The Detroit Lions have signed cornerback Stantley Thomas-Oliver III to strengthen their secondary after suffering key injuries.
Thomas-Oliver, a seventh-round pick by the Carolina Panthers in the 2020 NFL Draft, spent three seasons with the team, contributing as a depth corner and on special teams.
While his opportunities were limited, he demonstrated his potential during his time in Carolina.

On October 30, 2023, Thomas-Oliver joined the New York Giants’ practice squad. After the 2023 season, he signed a reserve/future contract with the team on January 8, 2024, but was waived on July 31 with a non-football injury designation.
Most recently, Thomas-Oliver signed with the Birmingham Stallions of the USFL on November 18, 2024.
With cornerbacks Carlton Davis and Khalil Dorsey placed on injured reserve, the Lions acted quickly to add depth at the position.
Thomas-Oliver joins the team to help stabilize their secondary as they make a postseason push.
