Lions head coach Dan Campbell stated this week that running back David Montgomery might require season-ending surgery.
However, Montgomery isn’t ready to accept that his season is over just yet.
Montgomery hasn’t been placed on injured reserve and shared in a video on the Lions’ social media that no final decision has been made.
“We’re still figuring things out. Nothing’s set in stone,” Montgomery said.
When asked if he could return this season, Montgomery replied, “I hope so.”
On Tuesday, Montgomery hosted a coat drive for families in need in Detroit and emphasized staying positive while appreciating his blessings.
“I’m good. I’m alive, breathing, my son’s healthy, my family’s healthy—I’m good,” Montgomery said.
The Lions have been hit hard by injuries and are in need of some encouraging news. Montgomery’s return would be a big boost for Detroit.
