PJ Takitaki, BYU Football, Lehi High School…
PROVO, Utah – Lehi High School’s standout, PJ Takitaki, is officially a BYU Cougar.
The 2026 EDGE rusher announced his commitment to BYU on Tuesday night.
Takitaki, a nephew of former BYU star and current New England Patriots linebacker Sione Takitaki, follows in his uncle’s footsteps as a defensive force known for disrupting opposing offenses.
Sione Takitaki shared PJ’s commitment announcement on X.
During his junior season at Lehi, PJ Takitaki recorded 58 tackles, 11 tackles for loss, nine sacks, and one interception. He played a pivotal role in leading Lehi to the 6A Semifinals before falling to Corner Canyon High in the state playoffs.
In that playoff loss, Takitaki managed four tackles, one tackle for loss, and one sack.
Takitaki chose BYU over an offer from Cal and drew interest from Michigan State.
According to 247Sports, Takitaki is ranked as the 49th-best EDGE rusher nationally and the 11th overall prospect in Utah for the class of 2026.
With Takitaki’s commitment, BYU adds its second recruit in the 2026 class, joining cornerback Justice Brathwaite from Gilbert, Arizona, who pledged last week.
Takitaki became a top priority for BYU’s 2026 recruiting efforts after receiving an official offer during the spring evaluation period. He now joins DEs coach Kelly Poppinga’s roster.
