Amon-Ra St. Brown, a Detroit Lions wide receiver, stated that he played against the Buffalo Bills despite having food poisoning. The gifted wideout felt ill the day before the game and reportedly vomited for the first time in his life. His tummy rumbled, and he was unable to get any sleep the night before the Lions faced the Bills. On the most recent episode of the “St. Brown Brothers” podcast, one of Detroit’s top offensive weapons discussed how terrible he felt during the Week 15 game against Buffalo.
“Dude, I had some s**t.” You are aware that I have never, ever puked in my life? I assume you are aware of that. I’ve never thrown up before,” St. Brown remarked. “Listen, I’ve never thrown up in my life until Saturday night. It just sounds ridiculous to throw up. “F**k,” I’m saying as I sit there. I have to do it even if I feel like s**t. I’m like, “Damn,” as I stick my finger down my throat and a tiny amount comes out. The entire thing just wooshed two seconds later. As if everything I consumed suddenly appeared. After that, I felt much better.
St. Brown was still an aggressive force in spite of his illness. He recorded receiving yards (193) and receptions (14) that were also career highs. In the third quarter, he also scored a touchdown from 66 yards out. “I wasn’t hungry. On Saturday, I hardly ate anything. I didn’t eat on Sunday. Two or three bananas were consumed by me. I definitely had enough fluids and other supplies because I had an IV,” St. Brown added. However, I would be exhausted and lifeless after about three plays. And during the entire game, we were playing two-minute offence. Every play, we all returned to the huddle with our hands on our hips and exhaled, “F**k, bro.” However, we continued to score.
