Jahmyr Gibbs fantasy football managers, celebrate! The Lions star says he’s ready to embrace the lead role in Detroit following David Montgomery’s injury, telling TMZ Sports, “it’s nothing I’m not used to.”
Gibbs already played a significant role in Dan Campbell’s backfield, racking up 186 carries this season.
However, with Montgomery sidelined due to a knee injury sustained in Sunday’s loss to the Bills, Gibbs is set to handle the majority of snaps moving forward.
When asked Tuesday if he felt prepared for the challenge, the 22-year-old didn’t hesitate, responding with confidence and a clear “yes.”
“I mean, I’ve been doing that my whole life,” Gibbs said. “That’s how I got here!”
He proved his point against the Bills, finishing with over 100 scrimmage yards and two touchdowns.
Next up for Detroit is a road game against the Bears on Sunday. Considering Chicago gave up 114 rushing yards and two scores in their “Monday Night Football” loss to the Vikings, Gibbs could have a massive debut as the full-time RB1.
