BYU Defensive Tackle Dallin Johnson Joins NCAA Transfer Portal

BYU Football DT Dallin Johnson Enters NCAA Transfer Portal

PROVO, Utah – A BYU defensive lineman from Utah has entered the transfer portal.

Dallin Johnson, a true freshman from Springville High School, announced on X that he is exploring transfer options.

“I’m so thankful for all the amazing people at BYU! I’ve learned so much and will always cherish living my dream! With that said, I have entered the transfer portal with four years of eligibility remaining. I look forward to finding a new home and working hard.”

Johnson redshirted during the 2024 season. As an early enrollee, he spent the entire year with BYU, playing as a defensive tackle.

Johnson was the first commitment in BYU’s 2024 recruiting class, committing before the Cougars joined the Big 12 Conference. The 6-foot-3, 295-pound lineman initially pledged to the previous defensive staff led by Ilaisa Tuiaki but stayed committed when Jay Hill became defensive coordinator.

When Johnson signed with BYU in 2023, Hill praised him as “one of the strongest kids in the country for his age group.”

At Springville High, Johnson recorded 35 sacks, 53.5 tackles for loss, 257 total tackles, and earned Army All-American honors.

Johnson becomes the 10th BYU football player in the 2025 cycle to enter the transfer portal.
