If he were to accept a future head coaching position, Ben Johnson, the offensive coordinator for the Detroit Lions, has his sights set on a certain setting. On the most recent Scoop City episode, Dianna Russini of The Athletic disclosed that Johnson is focused on a club that is trying to win right away if he leaves Detroit. Russini stated, “He wants to make sure he can succeed,” at the 27:30 mark. which is intelligent. Examine these coaches who accept these unsatisfactory positions. All you do is back off and damage your reputation.

Johnson was a major contributor to the Lions’ unexpected success as they are currently 13-2 and have won back-to-back seasons with a double-digit victory total for the first time in the team’s history. Detroit has the second-best passing attack and the sixth-best rushing offence out of all 32 teams this season, and it leads the NFL in scoring at 32.9 points per game.

Johnson has been acknowledged for his influence; after the 2023 season, he was considered for head coaching positions with the Washington Commanders and Seattle Seahawks before deciding to remain with the Lions. The Chicago Bears, New York Jets, and New Orleans Saints are anticipated to pursue him in the 2025 summer, according to ESPN’s Dan Graziano.

Even though all three teams have a losing record this year, Johnson might be of interest to one of them. Tom Pelissero of NFL Network disclosed on Sunday that Johnson is “intrigued” by Chicago’s announcement. The Bears are 4-11, but the current Lions coordinator might be persuaded by the chance to work with promising offensive players like Rome Odunze, Cole Kmet, and Caleb Williams. Johnson seems intent on assisting Detroit in retaining its position as the NFC’s top club for the time being.
