Seahawks Edge Bears in Defensive Showdown to Keep Playoff Hopes Alive

The Seattle Seahawks kept their postseason dreams alive with a gritty 6-3 victory over the Chicago Bears on Thursday night, a game defined by defensive dominance and late-game mishaps from Chicago.

Bears’ Offensive Struggles Continue

The Bears, who have now lost 10 straight games, managed just 179 total yards—their fourth-worst output of the 2024 season. Their lone score came from a field goal, as they failed to find the end zone for the second time this season.

Clock Management Issues Resurface

Much like their Thanksgiving Day loss to the Detroit Lions, clock-management issues doomed the Bears again. Trailing by three late in the fourth quarter, Chicago had a chance to tie or win the game. Starting at their own 11-yard line with 5:12 left and three timeouts, the Bears ran six plays to reach fourth-and-inches at their own 39-yard line.

However, a false start penalty on Jake Curhan—filling in for injured left guard Teven Jenkins—pushed them back, disrupting their rhythm and ultimately sealing their fate.

Seahawks Capitalize on Key Moments

Despite the absence of touchdowns, the Seahawks made critical plays when it mattered most. Caleb Williams’ interception came at a pivotal moment but was overshadowed by Chicago’s inability to capitalize on its final drive.

A Season of Frustration for the Bears

The loss caps a frustrating home season for the Bears, whose offense has struggled to find consistency all year. For the Seahawks, however, the win keeps them in the playoff hunt, showcasing their resilience in a season full of ups and downs.

  • Seattle will now turn its focus to the final stretch of the season, where every win is crucial to their postseason aspirations. Meanwhile, the Bears will look to address their ongoing issues as they prepare for another challenging offseason.
