TRANSFER PORTAL: Notre Dame Bolsters 2025 Roster with Two New Pass-Catchers

Fighting Irish Land Two Pass-Catchers for 2025 Via Transfer Portal

After a quiet start, the Notre Dame Fighting Irish have been making noise in the college football transfer portal, especially during the holiday season.

On Christmas Eve, Notre Dame secured a commitment from former Wisconsin Badgers wide receiver Will Pauling. Pauling, a standout on Wisconsin’s offense, has recorded 129 receptions for 1,379 yards and 9 touchdowns in his career, including time under Mike Brown as his position coach.

The Irish were expected to target pass-catchers in the portal this cycle, but one surprise addition came at tight end. On Christmas Day, former Arkansas Razorbacks tight end Ty Washington announced his decision to transfer to Notre Dame.

Washington’s move was unexpected, particularly because he was dismissed from the Arkansas team by head coach Sam Pittman. At Arkansas, Washington tallied 14 catches for 221 yards and 4 touchdowns. He is expected to join Notre Dame as a graduate student with two years of eligibility remaining.

More transfer portal activity is anticipated, with both incoming and outgoing players. Marcus Freeman and the Notre Dame staff are working diligently to assemble the strongest possible roster for the 2025 season.
