There could be a light at the end of the tunnel for Chicago.
People gathered throughout America Friday at diners and grocery shops, as well as on sports talk radio stations and podcasts, to mock the Chicago Bears. The Bears, who were already on the verge of losing the season, hit rock bottom Thursday, falling 6-3 at home to the Seattle Seahawks. In conjunction with the Chicago Bulls’ defeat against the Atlanta Hawks, the evening offered a gloomy picture of Chicago sports.
However, ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler believes there may be a silver lining. On Thursday’s This Is Football, an NFL insider told Kevin Clark that the Chicago position could be the most desired in the league. “I believe it’s the best job available,” Fowler remarked. “People feel this way; they value tradition, particularly among senior coaches. (The Washington Commanders) were a sought-after position last year for this reason.”
The Bears have a rich tradition but lack a winning record. The team has nine NFL championships all-time, an incredible total even though only one has occurred in the Super Bowl era. Fowler went on to say that former Seahawks coach Pete Carroll isn’t Chicago’s primary target, in response to a story by coworker Adam Schefter on Wednesday.
“They’ll probably go a little younger and go with somebody they can build with,” Fowler stated.
