The season for the Detroit Lions is almost over. There are just two games left in the regular season before the playoffs begin. Compared to many other teams, the Lions approach roster utilisation differently. What they enjoy doing is greatly influenced by their practice squad. They consider them essential components. Each member of the practice squad receives three elevations throughout the regular season in order to be eligible to play in games. Sadly, teams start to worry about using the third elevation towards the end of the season or have players who have already used all three.

Jamarco Jones, Isaac Ukwu, and Jamal Adams are all sitting at two elevations each for the Lions.

The good news is that once the playoffs begin, all elevations are reset. This will allow the Lions to deploy some of the men that they were scared to use too much during the regular season. The Lions were thrilled to get Kwon Alexander back on their practice squad because they knew he would be used in the playoffs. It will take four games for them to qualify for the Super Bowl if they lose against the Vikings on Sunday. The NFL offers limitless practice squad elevations during the playoffs, which is a plus. Alexander could so participate in all four games.

There you have it. If you were worried about elevations, worry no more.
