In Sunday’s 40-14 loss to the Buffalo Bills, quarterback Aaron Rodgers of the New York Jets had one of his worst games of the season and may have to deal with additional fallout from the game in the days ahead. Rodgers was sacked four times, including a safety in the second quarter, and threw two interceptions as he laboured against the Bills’ strong pass rush. After making what could have been a costly error, he was eventually yanked to open the fourth quarter in favour of backup Tyrod Taylor.
In the third quarter, Christian Benford, a cornerback for the Bills, intercepted a ball from Rodgers. The Jets quarterback then pushed Benford out of bounds with two hands and chased him towards the sidelines. The Bills advanced farther into Jets territory after officials flagged Rodgers for a late hit, which resulted in a touchdown.
Rodgers may lose his NFL contract as a result of the transgression. When the league announces the fine for late hits next Saturday, Rodgers will be eligible to get it. The league lists a $11,255 fine for first-time offenders.
Rodgers has already been fined, including $14,650 in March 2022 for breaking rules pertaining to players who are not immunised. Additionally, the Jets fined him over $50,000 for his unexcused absence from the team’s required minicamp—a trip to Egypt.
At the time, the Jets quarterback said that the trip had been carefully planned and that it was worth the team’s fine. According to CBS Sports, Rodgers stated, “I thought it’d be fun to put together a trip with some friends back in some of the doldrums of the rehab.” “My conversation with Robert was excellent. He clearly wanted me to go [minicamp]. I was aware of what would happen if I didn’t show up. The response is as it is.
