Following the pivotal Week 18 matchup between the Detroit Lions and Minnesota Vikings, Dan Campbell sent Kevin O’Connell a six-word note. The Lions finished the season 15-2 after defeating the Vikings 31-9 on Sunday night at Ford Field in Detroit, Michigan.
The win dropped the 14-3 Vikings to the five-seed and awarded Detroit the NFC North title and the No. 1 seed in the NFC. In the Wild Card round, Minnesota will have to travel to Los Angeles to play the Rams. The Vikings and Lions would meet in the Divisional Round if Minnesota defeated the Rams and the Eagles and Buccaneers both triumphed.
In his communication to O’Connell after the game, Campbell made note of that. After the game, Campbell was heard saying to O’Connell, “I’ll see you in two weeks,” as the two head coaches shook hands.Campbell sent that cordial greeting, clearly wishing to express his admiration for O’Connell and the Vikings.
Of course, Minnesota’s victory over the Rams is not assured. There is no assurance that they will play the Lions in the Divisional Round, even if they do. The Lions would play the Divisional Round’s bottom-seeded team since the NFL re-seeds. The Vikings have a higher seed than the Packers and Commanders.
