BYU Football’s Final Stat Leaders From 2024 Season

PROVO, Utah – The BYU Cougars delivered an unforgettable 2024 season.

Earning 11 wins against a challenging power conference schedule required exceptional performances from key players. Several athletes stepped up when it mattered most.

Here’s a summary of the top statistical leaders from BYU’s 2024 campaign.

All the listed leaders, except Jakob Robinson, are projected to return in 2025, offering the chance for repeated success.

Passing Yards: Jake Retzlaff (2,947)

Jake Retzlaff fell just 53 yards shy of a 3,000-yard season. His total of 2,947 passing yards is the third-highest in the Kalani Sitake era (since 2016), behind Zach Wilson (2020; 3,692) and Jaren Hall (2022; 3,171).

Rushing Yards: LJ Martin (723)

BYU hasn’t had a 1,000-yard rusher since Tyler Allgeier’s record-breaking 2021 season (1,601 yards). Sophomore LJ Martin led the team with 723 yards on 138 carries in 10 games, missing three due to an ankle injury. Martin now ranks 28th in program history with 1,241 career rushing yards.

Receiving Yards: Chase Roberts (854)

Junior Chase Roberts topped BYU’s receiving stats for the second straight year with 52 catches for 854 yards and four touchdowns. He plans to return in 2025 after suffering an upper-body injury in the Alamo Bowl.

Scoring Leader: Will Ferrin (113)

Junior kicker Will Ferrin joined Tyler Allgeier as the only players in the Sitake era to surpass 100 points in a season. Ferrin was 24-of-27 on field goals and perfect on PATs (41-of-41), with two field goals from 54 yards.

Touchdown Leader: LJ Martin (9)

LJ Martin led the Cougars with seven rushing touchdowns and two receiving scores.

All-Purpose Yards: Keelan Marion (914)

All-American returner Keelan Marion was BYU’s all-purpose yardage leader, amassing 472 kick return yards, 346 receiving, and 96 rushing yards. He averaged 70.3 all-purpose yards per game.

Total Offense: Jake Retzlaff (3,364)

Jake Retzlaff led BYU in total offense, combining 2,947 passing yards with 417 rushing yards. He continued the tradition of quarterbacks topping this stat since 1972.

Tackles: Isaiah Glasker (70)

Sophomore linebacker Isaiah Glasker led BYU’s defense with 70 tackles, the fewest for a team leader since 1993. Five players recorded at least 50 tackles this season.

Tackles For Loss: Isaiah Glasker (14.5)

Glasker also led the Big 12 in tackles for loss, recording 14.5 on the season.

Sacks: Jack Kelly (5)

Weber State transfer Jack Kelly bolstered BYU’s defense, leading the team with five sacks.

Interceptions: Three Players (3)

BYU led the nation with 22 interceptions. Jakob Robinson, Tanner Wall, and Isaiah Glasker each recorded three, with Glasker returning one for a touchdown.

Punting: Sam Vander Haar (33 punts, 1,412)

Former Pitt transfer Sam Vander Haar averaged 42.8 yards per punt on 33 punts, 35 fewer than BYU’s total from 2023. He secured the starting job early in the season.
