David Montgomery is thrilled to be back and contributing in the postseason after overcoming a knee injury.
Initially, he sought opinions from three doctors before deciding on rehabilitation instead of surgery.
“There was speculation about surgery being inevitable, but that wasn’t the case.
I found out through the media about the surgery rumors, which surprised me,” Montgomery said. “I’ve always been confident in how I prepare and who I am.”
Montgomery has been a vital part of the Lions’ offense, rushing for 775 yards and 12 touchdowns during the season. In three playoff games in 2023, he added 183 yards and two touchdowns. His return is a significant boost for the Lions.
The running back hadn’t played since December 15, when he injured his knee against the Bills. Initially, the Lions feared the MCL injury could end his season.
However, Montgomery participated fully in Tuesday’s practice and is set to return Saturday against the Commanders after missing three games.
“It feels great to be back and in a position where I can help the team,” Montgomery shared. “I’ve missed this and am so happy to be here.”
