A robust free-agent class alongside another impressive group of rookies allowed Lions general manager Brad Holmes to add another achievement in constructing this team. The Lions achieved a 15-2 record this year due to numerous additions made by Holmes. Consequently, Holmes was honored as the 2024 Executive of the Year by the Pro Football Writers of America.

Cornerback Carlton Davis and offensive guard Kevin Zeitler signed with the Lions during free agency this last season — Davis was brought in through a trade, while rookie cornerback Terrion Arnold swiftly secured a starting role on defense. Sixth-round selection guard Christian Mahogany had playing time as well, including starting for an injured Kevin Zeitler during the Divisional Round.

Holmes deserves significant recognition for transforming this Lions roster in a brief period, executing beneficial trades and taking risks that ultimately yielded positive results, like selecting Jahmyr Gibbs with a top-12 choice.

The season might not have concluded as the Lions desired, but the team’s core remains preserved for the foreseeable future, all thanks to Holmes. He truly merits this award.
