As if losing to the Washington Commanders last Saturday wasn’t painful enough, Detroit Lions wide receiver Jameson Williams also saw his wallet take a hit due to his actions during the game.
According to NFL Network, the league fined Williams $25,325 for unsportsmanlike conduct, citing what was referred to as “obscene gestures” after his touchdown in the divisional-round game at Ford Field.

With the Lions trailing 24-14 and just under four minutes remaining in the first half, Williams raced 61 yards on an end-around for a touchdown.
He capped off the play by thrusting on the ground in the end zone for several moments before teammates Jahmyr Gibbs and Amon-Ra St. Brown intervened to help him up.
This is the third time this season Williams has been fined for unsportsmanlike conduct—and the second for obscene gestures.
Earlier this year, the league fined him $19,697 for a “Beast Quake”-inspired celebration following a Week 11 touchdown in a 52-6 blowout of the Jacksonville Jaguars.
Williams wasn’t the only player hit with a fine after the divisional game. Commanders linebacker Frankie Luvu received two separate fines, each $16,883, for a total of $33,766.
The first fine came from a roughing-the-passer penalty on a hit to Jared Goff’s head and neck, where Luvu’s helmet made contact with Goff’s chin, leading to a Commanders pick-six.
The second was for an illegal hip-drop tackle on Gibbs. Both plays, despite the fines, were not flagged during the game.
Washington went on to defeat Detroit 45-31 to reach the NFC Championship. They will face the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday at 3 p.m. E.T.
