JJ Redick Provides Injury Update on Two Key Lakers Players Ahead of Knicks Matchup

Lakers’ JJ Redick Shares Injury Update on Key Players for Knicks Matchup

The Los Angeles Lakers secured a dominant 134-96 win over the Washington Wizards on Thursday. However, they will face a tougher challenge on Saturday when they take on the New York Knicks on the road. JJ Redick shared crucial injury updates before the matchup, per Dave McMenamin of ESPN.

“Redick says he hopes both (Gabe) Vincent and DFS (Dorian Finney-Smith) will be available Saturday vs. NYK,” McMenamin posted on X, formerly known as Twitter.

Vincent is in his second season with the Lakers. The experienced guard is posting averages of 4.9 points, 1.3 assists, and 1.3 rebounds per game. So far, he has played in 39 games during the 2024-25 season, logging an average of 20 minutes per contest.

Dorian Finney-Smith, who was recently acquired from the Brooklyn Nets via trade, has played 12 games with the Lakers. He is averaging 6.2 points and 3.8 rebounds per game since joining the team.

While Anthony Davis and LeBron James are the Lakers’ top stars, depth remains crucial. To beat a strong Knicks team in New York, Los Angeles will need a full-team effort. If Finney-Smith and Vincent are available, their presence could provide a significant boost.

As of this writing, the Lakers hold a 27-19 record, sitting in fifth place in the Western Conference. Meanwhile, the Knicks rank third in the Eastern Conference with a 32-16 record.

Following a strong 2023-24 campaign, New York appears to be a serious contender once again. The Lakers are playing well and could also be a legitimate threat, though they have shown inconsistency at times.

Still, it has been a solid season so far, and Los Angeles continues to climb the standings. The team will keep providing updates on Dorian Finney-Smith and Gabe Vincent leading up to Saturday’s game against the Knicks.
