These Four BYU Stars Dominate the NFL at Their Positions
As BYU supporters, let’s take a moment to recognize Andy Reid, Fred Warner, Puka Nacua, and Taysom Hill for being the best in the NFL at what they do.
The NFL is witnessing a wave of BYU talent, which speaks volumes about Kalani Sitake’s program. While many recognize that some top-tier players hail from Provo, Utah, have you ever considered how impactful this group has been at the sport’s highest level? The Cougars are taking over and leaving a significant mark on the league.
Andy Reid – The NFL’s Best Coach
The former BYU lineman and graduate assistant is unquestionably the best active head coach in the NFL.
Reid’s Kansas City Chiefs, reigning back-to-back Super Bowl champions, are aiming for an unprecedented third consecutive title. No team in NFL history has ever accomplished that feat. Under Reid’s guidance, the Chiefs have reached seven straight AFC Championship games, an incredible streak of dominance.
With 301 career victories, including playoffs, Reid ranks fourth all-time behind Don Shula (347), Bill Belichick (333), and George Halas (324). His 28 postseason wins trail only Belichick’s 31.
When his career concludes, Andy Reid will undoubtedly be inducted into the Hall of Fame.
Fred Warner – The NFL’s Best Middle Linebacker
Being named First-Team All-Pro is the highest honor an NFL player can receive, and Fred Warner has earned that distinction in four of the last five seasons. Despite playing much of 2024 with a broken bone in his ankle, Warner still secured the recognition.
In seven seasons, Warner has amassed 897 tackles, averaging 128 per year. Beyond his elite run defense, he’s regarded as the best middle linebacker in pass coverage, with 28 passes defended over the last three years.
At 28, Warner remains in his prime. By the time his career concludes, he will have a place in the Hall of Fame.
Puka Nacua – The NFL’s Best Wide Receiver
Yes, Puka Nacua is the top wide receiver in the league. But don’t just take my word for it—let’s see what Pro Football Focus has to say:
In 2024, PFF ranked Nacua as the NFL’s No. 1 wide receiver. This should come as no surprise. Despite missing six games due to injury, his per-game stats were astonishing.
Nacua’s 90.0 receiving yards per game ranked third in the league, as did his 7.2 receptions per game. His efficiency and production in 2024 were unmatched—he was targeted 106 times, catching 74.5% of passes while averaging 12.5 yards per reception. No other receiver with at least 65 targets met those marks.
After breaking NFL records as a rookie in 2023, Nacua solidified himself as the league’s best wide receiver in his second season.
Taysom Hill – The NFL’s Most Versatile Player
The NFL has never seen a “football player” quite like Taysom Hill.
The former BYU quarterback has done it all in his remarkable eight-year career. He has passed for 2,369 yards and 11 touchdowns, rushed for 2,437 yards and 33 touchdowns at an incredible 5.6 yards per attempt, and caught 99 passes for 943 yards and 11 more scores.
On special teams, he has recorded 17 tackles and returned 20 kickoffs for 489 yards. He has also blocked punts, recovered fumbles, and forced a safety.
In 2023, Hill became the first player in NFL history to record at least 10 passing, rushing, and receiving touchdowns in his career.
During a dominant 2024 performance against the Cleveland Browns, he became the first player ever to total 100+ rushing yards, three rushing touchdowns, 50 receiving yards, and 10 passing yards in a single game.
While Hill’s stats may not fit traditional Hall of Fame criteria, his one-of-a-kind career is unlike any other, and he may one day find his place in Canton.
