After Cleveland Browns defensive end Myles Garrett made his trade request public in a statement on Monday morning, the Detroit Lions have been one of the teams linked to possibly acquiring him. A transaction to acquire him automatically seems improbable at first glance for the Lions, yet they are in a position to contemplate daring actions.

Neglecting to engage in discussions with the Browns regarding Garrett would verge on malpractice for general manager Brad Holmes. Identify a team they are up against that ranks among the top teams in the league (or division opponents), and they will undoubtedly reach out to Browns general manager Andrew Berry.

During Tuesday’s “Rich Eisen Show,” Tom Pelissero from NFL Network indicated that it might take some time for any developments to occur as long as the Browns continue to refuse trading Garrett. It’s currently uncertain how that will affect the number of trade interested parties or the expenses involved. However, a procedure that continues past the initial week of the league year, or during the draft as Pelissero indicated, could advantage the potential bidders who exhibit the most patience.

Amon-Ra St. Brown, of course, supports the concept of the Lions acquiring Myles Garrett.

In the latest episode of the “St. Brown Podcast” featuring his brother Equanimeous for Super Bowl week, Lions wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown discussed the team’s daring moves this offseason.

The notion of acquiring Los Angeles Rams wide receiver Cooper Kupp emerged, prompting St. Brown to fantasize a bit as he listed all the star talent the Lions’ offense would possess. Equanimeous rejected the Kupp notion, agreeing that the Lions must strengthen their defense (and he is correct in that regard).

With respect to Garrett, St. Brown expressed his strong support for the Lions’ decision to trade for him.

“I ought to message (general manager) Brad (Holmes) and find out, you know, what their plans are,” St. Brown mentioned. “Garrett along with Aidan, Alim, DJ, and everyone from our D-line.” If your defensive line is tough, you won’t require any cornerbacks. You do not. “You don’t require anything.”

St. Brown undoubtedly represents the views of nearly all, if not every, one of his teammates about the prospect of the Lions acquiring Garrett this off season.
