Similar to the rest of the basketball community, Minnesota Timberwolves’ standout shooting guard Anthony Edwards was still in disbelief that Luka Doncic has joined the Los Angeles Lakers following the trade of the 25-year-old Slovenian by the Dallas Mavericks last weekend.
Edwards’ first response to the aforementioned trade gained significant traction online, primarily due to his frankness, stating that if Doncic could be traded, then there are truly no untouchable players in the league concerning trades.
However, now that everyone has already pinched themselves and accepted the reality that Doncic is a Laker (and a former Maverick), attention has shifted to various other matters. Numerous individuals remain curious about the past, particularly the complexities of how that trade transpired. Some look forward. Edwards is extremely enthusiastic and eager to see what the environment will be like during Doncic’s debut as a Laker at his former venue, the American Airlines Center in Dallas.
“I’m thrilled to witness the Lakers face off against Dallas in Dallas for the first time,” Edwards stated. “I’m really thrilled to witness that.” Oh my goodness. It will be in a couple of weeks. If we’re not performing, I’m getting front-row tickets to that event. Hey, seriously, the ex-Georgia Bulldogs star mentioned
The Mavericks will face the Lakers on February 25, but the game will take place at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles. Although it won’t take place in Dallas, the game is still anticipated to attract millions of viewers, particularly if Doncic participates in that matchup. However, any excitement that game brings is probably minuscule compared to the April 9 matchup between the Lakers and the Mavericks in Dallas — the game that Edwards is eager to attend in person, assuming the Timberwolves don’t play that evening.
It seems feasible for Edwards to attend Doncic’s return in Dallas, considering the Timberwolves have a rest day on April 9, which is just after a road match against the Milwaukee Bucks.
As of this writing, Doncic has not participated in a game since the Christmas Day contest between the Mavericks and Timberwolves in Dallas, but he is anticipated to make his LA debut on Saturday against the Indiana Pacers at home.
Edwards will have the opportunity to face Doncic and the revamped Lakers on February 27 in Los Angeles.
